Joshua Peters was born August 25th 1987 son to a Cuban American father and African American Mother. He is the third of five children and the older of the two males in his family. His life journey started in Saint Louis, Missouri, and reached Saint Paul, Minnesota, before his family returned to Saint Louis. He came to the forefront during his years in William Beaumont High School in Saint Louis.
Joshua accepted two invitations to visit the Missouri Governor’s Mansion. During the first visit, he was introduced to then Governor Robert Holden. He met our current Governor, Matt Blunt, during the second visit. He is the recipient of three Resolutions issued by General Assemblies of the Missouri House of Representatives, and a Proclamation presented by United States Congressman William Lacy Clay, Junior.
Joshua’s interest in politics is the direct result of his 2005 service as a (summer) Congressional Intern in the Saint Louis City office of Congressman Clay. He was so moved by the experience that he continued to volunteer in the office as a Staff Aide until he entered his freshman year in Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He still consults with Congressman Clay and members of his staff.
In his freshman year in Lincoln University, Joshua served as Vice President of the class. This office granted him a position as a Student Government Association Senator. He says he receives satisfaction from listening to constituent concerns and drafting, presenting, and supporting legislation to address them.
Joshua is a grateful recipient of a 2007 Congressional Black Caucus Scholarship, which will benefit him in the 2007 – 2008 Academic School Year.
Joshua believes success is his for the taking. Currently enrolled as a Political Science major, he sees himself as serving our country in the U.S. Department of State, serving as a spokesperson for a business entity or a public servant, or perhaps offering himself as a candidate for public office.
